Knitted Nativity Sets

It would be useful to have as a parish resource some sets of knitted Nativity figures which could be used where very young children are involved, particularly in our Christmas services, (eg Young Families Service, Quality Time etc). Is there anyone with time and skill to make these figures? Do you know of someone you could ask who might be willing to have a go? A pattern is available! If several people offered, perhaps this could become a “knit and natter” group … please contact Frances: 812518.

SOCS in Bethlehem

The Syrian Orthodox Christian School (SOCS) in Bethlehem continues to go from strength to strength. Such is its success that non-Christian families are wanting their children to attend. Do make a note of this date for your diary.
Saturday 17th October - Quiz and Fish 'n Chip Supper at St John’s Church Hall, Kenilworth.
7.15pm for 7.30pm start. Tickets £7 to include supper available from Peter or Pauline Morrell.

Parenting Teenagers

Ever felt that your teenagers were living on a different planet to you?  You are not alone!
Parenting Teenagers is a 6 session course for all parents wanting to retain a guiding hand in their teenagers' lives, while learning to give them the space they need to stretch their wings and fly.  Parents of teenagers can easily become isolated from each other when there is no more standing at the school gate or collecting children from each other’s homes. So the Parenting Teenagers course is for parents to connect with other parents facing similar issues through the teenage years, providing a place for ongoing friendship and support. It will also provide an opportunity to take a fresh look at our parenting – at the relationships we have built with our children and how we can help them to grow.
The course is run over six Tuesday evenings from 7:30pm to 9:45pm (3 before half term, and 3 after half term).  The first session was on Tuesday 6 October at The Cottage, North Street, Marton CV23 9RJ.  To book places or for further details please contact Jenny or Joe Walsh on 01926 632547.

Beating the Cost and Cold of Winter

Martin Green writes:

I am aware that this winter could be a strugglebowl of soup for many,
particularly the elderly in the village.  So, to help with saving fuel bills and food costs,
St Michael’s Church Hall, Bishops Itchington, will be open on Wednesday afternoons from 1.00 pm for a soup lunch and tea/coffees until 4.00pm,  for any who would like to come somewhere warm and enjoy company and a warm, if basic, meal.  We can even show a film one afternoon to add to the fun !

I also realise that for some, the walk up to church is quite an effort, so if any would like help with a lift, please get in touch with me at the Vicarage (613466) and we can arrange it.

It may not seem very much, but I hope this might help some a little.
